Grand County CO Colorado
Berthoud Pass was closed for more than three hours on Sunday while crews worked to clear a one-vehicle accident that resulted in the death of the driver.
Michael Baker, 56, of Tucson, Ariz., died on the scene.
Baker was driving a 2012 Dodge pickup truck heading east-bound on U.S. Highway 40, on the east side of Berthoud Pass, when he negotiated a left turn and drifted to the right, out of the travel lane and off the right-hand shoulder, according to a Colorado State Patrol spokesman.
He hit a snowbank, and then went over it, and the guard rail, and down the embankment 60 feet. Baker was pronounced dead at the scene.
