NWS: Brace for high winds, with gusts up to 80 mph, through Wednesday

A high wind warning is in effect until 5 p.m. Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service in Denver.

Areas of Grand County, including Winter Park, are included in the warning, which encompasses much of northeast Colorado.

The weather service predicts westerly winds between 30 and 40 mph, with gusts up to 80 mph, through Wednesday. Winds will increase after midnight Tuesday, with the strongest winds Wednesday morning.

High wind gusts have the potential to blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are to be expected.
