Wednesday is deadline for comments on Denver Water’s Moffat Project
summit daily news
Wednesday is the last day the Army Corps of Engineers will accept public comment on Denver Water’s proposal to divert more water from Grand and Summit counties via the Moffat Tunnel.
The Moffat Supply Project would enlarge Gross Reservoir, near Boulder, in order to address a projected future shortfall in water supply, avert the possibility of running out of water in a future drought and supply more water to the north end of Denver Water’s system. The reservoir’s capacity would be expanded by 72,000 acre-feet.
The Fraser River and Williams Fork River in Grand County would be most affected by the proposed diversions. The project would also impact the Blue River, in Summit County.
