Grand County Assessor Tom Weydert is seeking another term, having served seven years as assessor. “I strongly feel that I have made great strides in making the assessors office more efficient and user-friendly,” Weydert says in his candidacy letter.  “I take great pride in my staff and their willingness to meet the needs of our property owners.

“I take being an elected official very seriously, and I am committed to serving our community. As an elected official, it is imperative that I listen to and value each person’s concerns.”

As his job strengths, Weydert lists: Helping property owners better understand how the appraisal process works. Once people understand the process of valuation, they can better understand how their taxes are levied; tremendous understanding of the tax concerns of commercial businesses as a longtime business owner; and a promise “to continue to work closely with the county commissioners in matters of budgeting, the assessment appeals process, and property valuation.”
