William (Bill) King, longtime East Grand schools custodian, dies

1930-2011
William (Bill) King passed away in his home Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011. He was born in Elizabeth, Pa., on March 11, 1930. He went into the Army in September of 1950. In November of 1974 he married his beloved wife Linda Soukup in Grand Lake.
Bill not only made a living with his carpenter skills but he was a generous man often giving a helping hand to friends and neighbors. Bill was most known for his career at the East Grand School District as a custodian where the kids all referred to him “Mr. King.”
He is survived by his wife, Linda, of Granby; his daughter, Kimberly and husband Robert Smith of Granby; and his grandson Ayden Hickman of Granby. He is also survived by his nephews, whom he referred to as his sons, Phillip Soukup Jr. and wife Kim (children Dalton and Jenna), of Grand Junction, and Donald Soukup and wife Kelsey (children Keegan and Gavin).
A memorial celebration of Bill’s life will take place at the Inn at SilverCreek in the Longleaf room at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011, with reception to follow.
