Winter Park cancels candidate election for lack of challengers

There won’t be any campaigning in Winter Park this municipal election season.

No one stepped forward to challenge Winter Park’s incumbent candidates, so the Town Council canceled the candidate portion of the town’s April 8 election.

As many petitions were turned in as there are offices up for election, so the council remains the same as it has been.

There will still be a ballot, however, asking whether the town should continue levying its 1 percent sales and lodging tax that was approved by voters in 1991. Voters can mark their ballots yes or no on April 8.

Nick Teverbaugh remains Winter Park’s mayor alongside Mayor Pro Tem Jim Myers and council members Chris Seemann, Jimmy Lahrman, Vince Turner, Mike Periolat and Rusty Thompson.
