Winter Park named best summer resort

Sky-Hi staff

WINTER PARK — Winter Park & Fraser Chamber announced last week Winter Park has been chosen “Best Summer Resort” by the readers of Competitor magazine. It’s part of the annual “Best of” competition hosted by the magazine. Votes are tabulated online for the annual reader survey, and readers must fill in their selections, rather than choosing from a list of options. Typically, more than 5,000 readers vote in the categories that range from products to events and services.

The survey results will be published in the January 2014 issue of Competitor. Competitor magazine features fitness-oriented endurance sports, such as running, cycling, swimming and triathlon. The magazine is targeted to adult athletes who participate in these sports for both recreation and fitness.

“We are honored to be chosen as the readers’ favorite summer resort, especially in a publication that caters to our target visitor who loves adventure and activity,” says Catherine Ross, Executive Director of the Winter Park & Fraser Chamber. “With 600 miles of hiking and biking trails, the Mountain Bike Capital USA designation, fishing, rafting and the host of other outdoor activities available in Winter Park, we offer a little something for everyone.”

Ross says that in addition to a wealth of activities, Winter Park also hosts a fun-filled festival nearly every weekend during the summer. Quintessential summer events include the Winter Park Jazz Festival, Blues from the Top, Winter Park Music Festival and the Winter Park Beer Festival.
