Winter Park releases principle goals for updated town plan
Progress continues on Imagine Winter Park, the town’s efforts to update the town’s master plan from 2006, a policy document meant to help town staff and officials make decisions on land use, development, public services and economic development.
After a series of stakeholder interviews, along with feedback from the public and town staff, the town has organized the “Vision of the Town of Winter Park” document into four major community visions. The themes will act as the groundwork for town plan.
The first category, character and culture, focuses on creating an authentic and inclusive community through the use of amenities and social spaces. The second, global and local connectivity, emphasizes seamless connectivity to both the natural and technological environment. The third, world-class outdoor recreation, focuses on providing a wide range of outdoor activities. The fourth, health and thriving environment, hones in on sustainability and connecting to the area’s natural assets.
The vision, and principles therein, will be expanded on via the formation of goal-level and policy statements in the framework of each theme. The framework will be open for public review in early 2018, and interested parties can read more about the plans at wpgov.com/imaginewp.
