Winter storm watch posted for eastern part of state
A winter storm watch has been posted for eastern Colorado by the National Weather Service as a winter storm is expected to drop southward to near Las Vegas, Nev., by Tuesday evening.
The storm will then move across Arizona and New Mexico Tuesday night and Wednesday. Snow is expected to develop across the mountains Tuesday, then onto the plains of eastern Colorado Tuesday night as an upslope develops. Snow may continue through Wednesday night and even Thursday as the storm winds up over the Central Plains.
At this time, the weather service said the heaviest snow and strongest winds are expected to occur over the far eastern plains of Colorado. However, any change to the track and intensity of the storm could have a significant impact on sow accumulations across northeast and north central Colorado
