Winter weather advisory says up to 8 inches snow possible overnight in Winter Park

The National Weather Service in Denver has issued a winter weather advisory for mountainous areas west of a Denver, including the Winter Park area. The advisory calls for up to 8 inches of snow possible from Monday evening into early Tuesday morning.

Periods of heavy snow are possible, areas west and south of Denver, where snow accumulations of four to eight inches are possible.

Mountain areas should see an end to snowfall during the day Tuesday, with only minimal new accumulation over higher elevations south of Interstate 70. There will also be a chance of light snow
on the Palmer Divide Tuesday morning, but no new accumulation.

The mountains and northern high valleys will see their next chance of snowfall and possible snow accumulation Wednesday through Friday with a series of moist weather disturbance moving down from Idaho and Wyoming.
