Woman accused of marrying 2 Fort Carson soldiers

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) – A woman has been charged with bigamy for allegedly marrying another soldier while her husband was deployed to Iraq.

Eugene Alton Patton, Jr. told police that he returned home to find out that his wife, 29-year-old Tammy Patton of Peyton, had married a fellow solider at Fort Carson, Kevin Donald Benson.

Police say she used a fake Social Security number and misstated her father’s name on her application for a marriage license.

Police say Eugene Patton also reported the marriage to his commanding officer who told Benson to get an annulment.

Tammy Patton is free on $3,000 bond and must appear in court July 12.
