Town of Winter Park approves budget, focus on events and transportation
The Winter Park Town Council approved their 2017 annual budget at their November 15 meeting. The budget reflects increases in areas where Winter Park continues to grow including special events and transit.
Notable changes to the Winter Park budget were an increase in staffing for the Police Department with an addition of a Police Administrative Sergeant. The Trails and Events department will also add three seasonal staff.
Funding was increased for events, economic development, and community organizations totaling $1.8 million. Funding was added for additional events, economic development recruitment, economic data sources, and transit marketing.
The budget also shows continued funding of transit by the town of Fraser at anticipated cost levels, but no actual agreement was in place at the time of budget adoption.
The affordable housing fund had an estimated increase of $55,000 for the Winter Park 2017 budget.
