Wrong-way semi, car crash on I-70 east of Denver

AGATE, Colo. (AP) – The Colorado State Patrol says a semitrailer going the wrong way with its lights off slammed into a car head-on on Interstate 70 in east of Denver.

Sunday night’s crash near Agate left three people injured – the driver of the car and two passengers, which included a child. Their names and conditions weren’t released.

The Denver Post reports that the truck driver wasn’t seriously hurt.

The semi was headed the wrong way on I-70 for 9 miles before the crash about 60 miles east of Denver. A sheriff’s deputy had tried to pull the truck over near Limon but the driver kept going.

Investigators suspect alcohol was a factor in the crash.
