Cathy Walton-Smith Robins and rain: It must be spring in Grand Lake
Back to my annual obsession with signs of spring. Petra Recor writes: Has anyone seen robins yet? Otherwise Eden and I can report the news of a whole fat “flock” of at least 3-4 on our property, seen Saturday afternoon. In addition, I saw my first marmot scamper across Highway 34 this week. Various other rodent-types have also been popping their heads out of holes all along County Road 41. And the final sign of spring for this week… as I sit writing this, its raining outside! The Grand Lake Women’s Club will meet Thursday, April 16, at the Grand Lake town fire station at 1 p.m. The guest speaker will be the Grand Lake Elementary School principal. They will continue in the month of May if musicians want to continue playing on Thursday nights and continue to have community support. The response of the musicians has been great, they all love this venue, and are playing for just the cover charge at the door, so it is nice to see the locals supporting them. Please let April and Ken know if you think there would be support in May, or if you would like to entertain. Call 531-1267 or e-mail email@example.com. This Thursday stop in to see a Grand County favorite, Gary Key and visual artist Beth Kurtak (Gary’s special request), she is a long time local and favorite as well. The Circle H is also planning a Barbeque and community yard sale over Memorial weekend May 23rd & 24th.
