Harlem Abasssadors a surefire crowd pleaser

Larry Ebersole / Kremmling Crossroads

I am not sure that a spoiler alert is warranted, but if you do not want to read about the Harlem Ambassador’s probable win Tuesday night against the Kremmling Cliffjumpers, please skip to the next topic of this column.

There is a certain irony in the fact that I am actually writing this a day before the game, but I am confident in my prediction. I am confident because I know that the Ambassador’s will do anything to win and disguise it as entertainment.

Sure, the bouncing of basketballs off people’s heads and buckets of confetti will make you laugh, but that is all part of the plan. Who knows how far they are really willing to go? Either way the Harlem Ambassador’s will have brought their unique brand of basketball entertainment to share with us.

Many of us grew up in the era when the Harlem Globetrotters were entertaining the country non-stop as their fine organization is still doing. The Harlem Ambassador’s are their own unique team and as this is the first time many of us will witness their performance, I can’t wait to see the show they have developed for the basketball court.

If you skipped the first paragraph about the Kremmling Cliffjumper’s improbable win over the Harlem Ambassadors, please do not go back and read it now as it will only cause confusion. If you did read the first paragraph you may think I have lost my way somewhere and am simply contradicting myself. Well I am sort of.

Since I am trying to report on a game that has not been played yet at the time of this writing but that will be over by the time anyone reads this, I have to contradict myself to cover either outcome. So I do know ahead of time that we did have fun at the game last night and as the advance ticket sales seem to indicate, so did a lot of other people.

Other events on the horizon for Kremmling include the next Chamber Mixer, which is scheduled for March 25 at the library. The mixer starts at 6 p.m. and will go until 7:30 p.m. In April the Easter Egg Hunt and Coloring Contest is planned for the 11th. The egg hunt will take place on the grounds near the Assisted Living Center and the Senior Apartments.

On May 9 the Chamber Banquet will take place and is going to be a formal affair. Plans for this year’s Kremmling Days are already taking shape. If you get on the Chamber’s Web site you can see what is scheduled so far. Kremmling Days will take place June 19-21 so you should have ample time to plan ahead.

Last week West Grand Middle School participated in the last Brain Bowl event for this school year. The final bowl took place in Granby and the seventh grade team finished in first place, so congratulations are certainly in order.
