Henderhan: Kremmling rallies to support injured neighbors

Once again our neighbors and friends have shown us how lucky we are to live in this generous and caring community. Last Tuesday a fundraiser was held for two local boys, Colton Bodemann and Kele Bock, who were seriously injured in a motorcycle accident. The event was a great success with over 700 attending the dinner and silent auction at the high school.

All the proceeds from another fundraiser will also be donated. You can take a chance to win a 1984 Chevy pickup by buying a ticket for a $20 donation or six tickets for $100. The truck is parked at Mountain Dollar in Kremmling and tickets are available there and at Carquest in Granby. The drawing for the pickup will be at 3 p.m. June 1 at Mountain Dollar.

You can also make donations to funds set up for the boys at local banks. Donate to Kele Bock’s fund at Grand Mountain Bank, and to Colton Bodemann at Credit Union of the Rockies. A quick and complete recovery is wished for both boys.

The West Grand Elementary students will be performing their spring musical programs tonight and tomorrow at the high school auditorium. The programs will start at 7 p.m. both nights. The program tonight will feature the 2nd and 4th grades, and Thursday’s program will be the 1st, 3rd and 5th graders. This program is usually performed during the afternoon hours so this evening performance should give many more people a chance to enjoy the program.

The Kremmling Chamber of Commerce has received the 2009 Fundraising Award from the Colorado Association of Commerce and Industry. Congratulations to Kacey and Marty and the Kremmling Chamber, and thanks for their tireless efforts to promote Kremmling.

The annual Chamber of Commerce dinner will be this Saturday, May 15, at the Extension Hall at the fairgrounds at 6 p.m. “True Grit, Celebrating an Old West Spirit” is the theme of this year’s dinner. Tickets are $35 each or two for $60 for chamber members; non-members are welcome as well for just $5 more. Contact the Chamber at 724-3472 for tickets and more info about the evening.

The Chamber is also promoting a Business of the Month. This award will recognize businesses for their efforts to improve the Kremmling economy and their inspiration to their business peers. April’s Business of the Month was The Fishin’ Hole, and recognized for May is Tri-River Ace Hardware.
