Inell Harvey: Don’t forget to turn your clocks forward Saturday night

Spring forward into spring on Sunday, March 9. That is when daylight saving time begins. The days will seem longer. So, don’t forget to turn your clocks forward one hour before retiring Saturday night.

Days are beginning to lengthen and winter is on the wing. Snow is melting fast and soon the robins will be here. The floating clouds seem softer and the days become longer. God’s bright and intricate device proves that it’s almost spring.

There will be a new moon Friday, March 7.



A 55 Alive all-day class was held in Granby on Wednesday at the Senior Center.

A drawing for the 2007 Heeney Community quilt will be held at the annual Heeney potluck dinner party at 6 p.m. on March 15. This gala potluck dinner party will be held in the Heeney Lower Blue Community Center. Proceeds from ticket sales for the quilt will benefit the Lower Blue Fire Protection District.

The Elk’s Lodge in Silverthorne hosted a prime rib and shrimp dinner for 14

Kremmling seniors Wednesday evening. The Elk’s Lodge managers, Bob Knorr and his wife are appreciated for their gracious hospitality to the Kremmling group.

A memorial service for former area resident Florence Nichols was held Saturday afternoon in the Kremmling Community Church building. Pastor Karl Wood of nearby Parshall officiated.

Inell Harvey’s son, Rick, and Cathy Gelinas were married last week in a very private ceremony in Denver – with no guests present.

Former Kremmling resident Pete Rulsion, who now resides in Granby, visited friends in Kremmling last Tuesday. He was also a guest in the Silver Spruce dining room at noon.

Welcome home to Crocket Kempt, who returned from having stayed the winter with her daughter and family in California. Crocket is in better health than when she left last fall and she is happy to be in her own home near Kremmling again.

The annual dinner and meeting of the Middle Park Medical Foundation will be held Monday evening at Kremmling’s Rocky Mountain Bar and Grill. The prime rib and salmon dinner will be hosted by owners Kenny and Heather Bentler.

Mary Sanchez, her niece Shavanh Romero, with sons Jesus and Luis Dai, returned from visiting relatives in New Mexico. Mary stayed the week with her mother,

Maclovia Fernandex, near Ocate, New Mexico. The main reason for their trip was for a baby shower honoring Shavanh. Her baby girl is to arrive in about a month and she received many nice gifts at the shower.

Happy birthdays are wished this week to Twila O’Hotto, Gary Bumgarner, Brett Manuel, Audrio Weimer, Kristie James, Taylor Ann Peach, Gary Breeze, Marilyn Curry, Marcia Wyatt (of “Flowers by Marcia” in Kremmling), Harlan Singer, Don Off, Gloria Cordova, Jessica (J.J.) Adams and to Larry Gross.

There will be a Regional Advisory Council (RAC) meeting held in Frisco on Wednesday, March 12.

Peel a banana from the bottom and you won’t have to pick the little “stringy things” off of it. That’s how primates do it.

Take your bananas apart when you get home from the store. If you leave them connected at the stem, they ripen faster. They will also keep longer if placed in a brown paper bag in the refrigerator.

Rocky Bishop was “Lady of the Hour” at her 80th birthday open house celebration, which was held Saturday afternoon at Silver Spruce in Kremmling. The room was filled with friends and many relatives. Everyone enjoyed a fun time and the cake, punch and other goodies were great. It took two trys, but Rocky did blow the candles out on one of her birthday cakes. Happy late birthday, Rocky.

A letter from former Kremmling residents, Mike and Kathy Sparacino, said Kathy is finally getting over a two-month long cough and she is still employed. Mike has a new and better job with the state at Fort Morgan Cemetary.

A Republican General Assembly will be held in Grand Lake Sunday afternoon, March 9.

Happy wedding anniversary to Harlan and Jane Land on March 8 and to former area residents Tommy and Linda Hill on March 9, and on March 7, congratulations to Inell’s sister-in-law and her husband, Jane and Paul Sallada in Cincinnati. (They read Inell’s column in the Middle Park Times.)

The Kremmling Community Church will hold its annual church meting immediately following the morning church service on March 9 in the West Grand High School auditorium.
