Kremmling River Days quite a hit, despite cool rains
The warmth of the sun has finally returned and there is more than a five minute break in between bursts of cold rain that have filled the last few days.
Rain storms in the mountains certainly have their intrinsic beauty and are enjoyable for short stints, but they tend to eventually push people indoors. Despite the chill in the air, there were about 500 racers at the Pumphouse for the whitewater race, and 300 of those racers made it to the River Days event in the Kremmling Town Square for the celebration afterwards.
The Chamber of Commerce is excited not only about the turnout for this first-time event, but for the opportunity for next year’s River Days combined, one hopes, with the beautifully mild weather we often enjoy during August.
Don’t forget about the Chamber mixer on Thursday, Aug. 21, at the CEO Bed and Breakfast near the new school building.
The new school building is now occupied again as the school year started for kids in Kremmling on Monday. The West Grand Elementary and Middle School will be hosting an open house on Aug. 27 from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
The Kremmling Library will be showing the film “Young Sherlock Holmes” for its next movie night on Aug. 26. They are also planning a cultural celebration on Sept. 13 tying into Mexican Independence Day.
Volunteers of any ability are greatly needed as are those with more specialty talents such as amateur musicians. Let Glyn at the library know if you can help.
Sitting outdoors here tends to make one into an amateur nature observer with the obvious sightings of the deer and various birds. But the one thing I am really curious about is how is something as small as a grasshopper able to generate and project such and incredible level of noise?
