Kremmling the place to be for the Fair & Rodeo this week

The big event this week is obviously the Middle Park Fair and Rodeo, which is taking place all week at the fairgrounds here in Kremmling. On August 10 will be the crowning of the Lady in Waiting, Kremmling’s own Becky Malish. She is a student at West Grand High School and her parents, Andy and Shelly Malish, own and operate the Wild West Outfitters in town, so don’t hesitate to stop by and congratulate them.It is not unusual to see a lot of motorcycle riders coming through town on weekends during the summer months. You may have noticed more than usual this last weekend as the Colorado 100,000 foot Motorcycle Ride made its way through Kremmling. They held a cookout on Saturday afternoon in the park in Town Square.Good news for the local economy, the Confluence Energy Pellet Plant opened on Tuesday, creating many job opportunities for people to work in Kremmling.Although it is a countywide event, the 10th Annual Doggie Drag takes place on Aug. 9. This is a fundraiser for the Grand County Animal Shelter that you can participate in with your dog. I wanted to mention this as our family recently adopted a dog from the shelter and found the people there great to work with. One of the things our new dog has really enjoyed about his new home is meeting the UPS driver who had always brought a treat for our other dog. Recently, though, we are getting a lot of packages we didn’t order and the dogs seem to be expecting UPS to come in the afternoon. I can’t prove anything and it might just be a coincidence. I’ll let you know what I find out next week.Until then please let me know about what is happening in your family or just the part of Kremmling you live in. Submit local items of interest to Larry Ebersole at or P.O Box 564 Kremmling Colorado 80459.
