Larry Ebersole " Kremmling got to sit out the big storm
I was supposed to go to Loveland last Friday and for once I decided to follow my instincts and reschedule. The end result was that I was able to watch the storm of the century on TV instead of being stuck on I-70. So maybe it was really only the storm of the spring season, but for those parts of Colorado that have been brown and dry all winter it was a big deal.
Our relatives in Kansas called to make sure we survived the storm so I did have to complain about my driveway being wet again but confessed to missing most of the storm. Compared to the three feet of snow my uncle in Evergreen had to deal with, Kremmling sat this storm out.
The ground is drying up and the warmer weather animals seem to be making their presence known. We have already suffered through a mud season so I don’t think we owe Mother Nature any more along that path. It is time to pick up all the deposits the dogs have hidden in the snow throughout the winter and move on into spring and summer.
Often the celebrations in our lives seem to be intertwined with the inevitable struggle that is just as much a part of our daily existence. The West Grand Community Educational Foundation has postponed the Citizen of the Year Banquet. The new date is set for June 18. The change is due to a death in the family of the Citizen of the Year Honoree, Therese McElroy. I am sure the condolences of the entire Kremmling community are with someone who has done so much for us.
The Annual Chamber Banquet is still on for May 9 at the Grand County Fairgrounds. Check out the Chamber’s Web site for all the details.
The Route 40 Talent Search sponsored by RealLIVE Co Productions is looking for bands, singers, instrument soloists and comedians from the Kremmling area. This will all lead to a Web Capturing Event sponsored by the Quarter Circle Saloon. The details for this event can also be found on the Kremmling Chamber’s Web site.
Congratulations are due to the West Grand Middle School 8th grade Honor Band. They have been invited to play in Aspen on April 30 and May 1. They get to spend a night in a town that has its own magazine so I am sure that has got to be pretty close to the big time.
