Letter: Erzinger, April is National Child Abuse Prevention month
Child abuse prevention month
April is National Child Abuse Prevention month. Spinning blue pinwheels brighten the melting winter snow as a reminder that Grand County communities care about preventing child abuse and neglect here. While throughout Colorado, neglect accounts for nearly 80 percent of the child maltreatment picture, here in Grand County, rates of child maltreatment as well as neglect have declined in the past three years.
Something we do in this county is helping children. The state and nonprofit agencies that provide services for parents and families need our continuing support to build healthy thriving young people. Give your resources-whether it is time or money, to organizations such as Mountain Family Center or Grand Beginnings, in the name of National Child Abuse Prevention month.
