Letter: Mountain Family Center thanks community for support
Letter of Thanks
As 2016 moves into full-swing, Mountain Family Center (MFC) would like to acknowledge the Grand County community for all of its support over the past several months. Thanks to City Market and the Grand County Sheriff’s Department for holding a two-day food drive to kick off the holiday season. The Sheriff’s department collected 5,000 pounds (over two tons!) of turkeys and canned goods on behalf of MFC’s Thanksgiving Basket program. This annual program helps provide complete holiday meals to Grand County families. Thank you to the Inn at Silvercreek for donating space to distribute the meals, as well as all the volunteers who helped assemble and hand out baskets. The combined efforts of everyone involved resulted in 265 Thanksgiving meals for the community.
As Thanksgiving passed, MFC’s focus moved to the annual Christmas Gift program, in which generous members of the community supported local families who otherwise would not have had presents for their children. Special thanks to all of this year’s sponsors who made the holidays brighter for more than 110 families and 340 children. Over 1,000 presents were donated and distributed in an amazing show of neighborly support.
Mountain Family Center is grateful to the Foundry, Grand County Blues Society, Home James, East Grand School District, East Grand Middle School, Fraser Valley Elementary Girl Scout Troup #56, Kremmling Trinity Episcopal Church, FVE PAC, Granby Ranch’s Carve Away Hunger event, Devil’s Thumb Ranch, Grand Lake Plumbing, FedEx Kremmling, Fraser River Valley Lions Club, and the Grand County Board of Realtors for their kindness and generosity during the holiday season. Between all of the jacket and gift drives that these businesses individually coordinated, the coat closet and ‘Santa’s Toy Room’ at MFC were fully stocked. The combined food-drive efforts of these organizations resulted in over 2,600 lbs. being donated to MFC’s food bank during the busiest of seasons. Safeway also graciously donated 140 complete holiday meals in November and December, helping many families come together over a special dinner they may not otherwise have been able to enjoy.
Furthermore, the 26th Annual Delicious Dishes Fundraiser was held Dec. 8 at the beautifully festive Daven Haven Lodge in Grand Lake. Mountain Family Center sincerely thanks the 180+ attendees who made the night a success by raising nearly $10,000. Additional thanks is given to the volunteers who made the evening so amazing: Duane Dailey, Bernie McGinn, Peter the Painter, Jim White, Frank Parker, Becky McBride, Mary and Jim Bernard, Debbie and Barry Young, Cathy Craig, Lois Keener, Trustin Appelhans, Anna Zielinski, Riley Sedlar, Karen Raymond, Kathleen Moran, Brendan Bailey, Ben Roll, Debbie Bahn, Patrice Zink, JC Coolen, Carol Ann Thompson and Kathy Lewis.
Finally, MFC would like to give thanks to Kremmling Memorial Hospital District/Middle Park Medical Center for donating the Granby office space that allows MFC to continue serving local families. The success of MFC’s mission is dependent upon the collaborative work of the entire community.
Thank you for your support, Grand County!
