Thanks for a Successful 3 Lakes Ice Fishing Tournament
The Granby Chamber and the Grand Fishing Committee are both incredibly thankful for the outpouring of support during this year’s 28th Annual 3 Lakes Ice Fishing Tournament, which took place Jan 29-31. We had over 1,000 registered anglers hit the ice for three days of friendly competition. And, the weigh station was bustling…..our anglers brought in over 450 fish to be measured and weighed!
We are also thankful to the communities and businesses of Granby and Grand Lake who graciously welcomed, entertained, lodged and fed hundreds of out-of-towners visiting Grand County. A great “fishing experience” and Grand adventure was had by all!!!
In particular, we would like to thank those who sponsored us and those who put up with us, without whom this event COULD NOT happen. When you see someone from one of these organizations, please thank and support them. Their sponsorship helped us to promote and award over $15,000 in cash/prizes over the three days of the tournament. Many thanks goes to: Mountain Parks Electric (a Touchstone Cooperative) who was our title sponsor this year. Additional sponsors were: Grand County Colorado Tourism Board, the Town of Granby, Penley Concrete, The Westerner Motel, B&K Distributors, Beacon Landing Marina, North Shore Resort, Mountain Lakes Lodge, Rocky Mountain Outfitters, Budget Tackle, Granby Bait n Tackle, Country Ace Hardware, Vexilar, Michaels Audio & Video, Sagebrush Bar & Grill, Mountain Parks Concrete, The Group Inc. Real Estate, The Trash Company, Sani-King, Clam, & Recycled Fish.
We would also like to thank all of our volunteers, who–without them, this event would not be possible: The Grand Fishing Committee, Edie & Doug Dafoe (for hosting the weigh station), Jim & Julie Gasner (having a kids zone on Grand Lake), Dan Mathews & the forest service crew, Bernie Keefe (“the fish master”), Duane Dailey, Jim & Lisa Debevec (supplies & food deliveries), Dave Rudolph (our techmaster), Shelly McManus, Lesley Janusz, Frank DeLay, Debra McCord, Ray Jennings, Wally Baird, Ron Thompson, Bill Appleby, Ricardo Jasso, Jon Ewert (for tagging the fish), Mike Ivy, Jeromy Huntington & crew, Power World (helping stranded anglers), Margaret & Richard Crager (for staying open for 72 hours straight) and the Sky-Hi News for such great coverage. Your dedication and commitment to this event is what makes it successful. Thank you.
We are already getting geared up for our 29th annual tournament next year. We hope you will tell friends and family that Granby’s 3 Lakes Ice Fishing Tournament is one of the best in the state. Granby really is, the “Heart of Something Grand”.
