Grand County Library District
The snowflakes are falling, the temperature has dropped and news of Grand County Library District’s Winter Reading Adventure challenge is buzzing throughout our winter wonderland. There is no better time to dive into a good book. Whether you’re a fan of thrilling mysteries, heartwarming romances or epic fantasies, we’ve got the tools to help you find your next great read. And the best part? You don’t even have to leave your cozy blanket fort to get started!
These digital tools are the superheroes of the library world, swooping in to save the day (and your reading list).
NoveList Plus
This tool is like having a personal librarian at your fingertips. Just type in the title of a book you loved, select what you liked about it, and NoveList will give you a list of similar titles. It’s like having a bookish best friend who always knows what you’re in the mood for. For example, if you enjoyed “The Women” by Kristin Hannah, NoveList might suggest you try “Lessons in Chemistry” by Bonnie Garmus or “Dragon Teeth” by Michael Crichton. It’s that easy!
Hoopla
With this app, you can instantly borrow e-books, audiobooks, comics and more. Imagine having thousands of titles at your fingertips, ready to be enjoyed anytime, anywhere. Stuck in a snowstorm? No problem! Just download a new book and let the adventure begin.
Libby App
This is another fantastic resource for eBooks and audiobooks. It’s user-friendly and perfect for those who love to read on their tablets or smartphones. Plus, it syncs across all your devices, so you can start reading on your phone and pick up right where you left off on your tablet.
Both Hoopla and Libby offer a wide range of genres and titles, from bestsellers to hidden gems. Whether you’re in the mood for a nonfiction adventure, like “The Paranormal Ranger: A Navajo Investigator’s Search for the Unexplained” by Stanley Milford Jr. or a 5-star-reviewed fiction title like “Our Missing Hearts” by Celeste Ng, you’ll find it all in our digital collection.
No worries as to late fees as the titles will be returned on the due date. If you did not finish your book in time, you can check it out again.
So how do you get started on this Winter Reading Adventure? Just visit your local library. If you are snowed in or don’t feel like going out in the cold, use Hoopla and Libby to read e-books and audiobooks from the comfort of your home.
Let us be your guide to endless winter reading adventures. Grab your favorite blanket, make a cup of hot cocoa and get ready to embark on a literary journey from the comfort of your home. Happy reading!
