Grand County asks residents to weigh in on potential change to lodging tax
Residents have until Friday, July 26 to complete the survey
Grand County has created a survey for residents that seeks input about a potential lodging tax increase. Residents have until Friday, July 26, to complete the survey.
If approved, the lodging tax would increase from 1.8% to 2% beginning January 2025. Grand County estimates that the increase could collect an additional $226,000 annually. The potential increase in revenue could go towards housing and child care for Grand County’s workforce, as well as marketing for local tourism, according to a news release.
The lodging tax applies to visitors who use hotels or short-term rentals. The county noted in the press release that no decisions have been made about increasing the lodging tax at this time.
