Sky-Hi News has a long history of fostering the talent and ambitions of up and coming writers. A partnership with Colorado College has led the newspaper’s newest editorial contributor.
Lorelei Smillie is a writer and journalist originally from New York City. She holds a B.A. in political science from Colorado College in Colorado Springs, with minors in journalism and French.
Since graduating in May, she has been covering Winter Park Town Council meetings for Sky-Hi News for the summer.
Smillie’s work has spanned local politics, business, and features. She previously interned with the Denver Gazette, where she covered business news and features in the city.
Lorelei has also worked as a staff writer for Colorado Media Group and its two publications, NORTH Magazine and the Southern Colorado Business Forum & Digest. She has additional bylines in Colorado Politics and The Colorado Springs Gazette.
When she’s not reading about local politics, Lorelei enjoys cooking and trying new recipes. Her favorite things to eat are soul food and Korean dishes.
