December 7, 1933 – August 13, 2026

Jim Johnson, age 92, passed away August 13, 2026.
Born December 7, 1933, in Mount Vernon, IL, Jim moved to Colorado as a very young child. He grew up on a family farm west of Brighton and graduated from Brighton HS where he played football and wrestled. He met his wife, Connie Behrens (1938 – 2021) at a Grange dance near Brighton. They were married for over 60 years.
Jim was in the Navy during the Korean War. He served as a corpsman aboard the USS Tortuga. When he returned home, he worked as a cowboy herding cattle and fixing fences before taking a job as a long-haul truck driver. He then became a lineman for Mountain Bell and several electric companies.
He loved spending time in the mountains fly fishing, hunting and camping, so he jumped at the chance to work for Mountain Parks and moved the family to Granby in 1972. In 1980, he and Connie moved to Fraser when they opened Continental Property Mgt in Winter Park. They managed rental condominiums for 25 years and made lifetime friends with many owners and guests.
Jim was very involved in the community coaching Little League, announcing high school football games and fundraising for the MPHS band. He was a long-time member of the Lions Club and served several years on the board of Mountain Parks Electric.
After retiring, Jim & Connie lived full-time in their RV for over 10 years. They drove coast-to-coast numerous times, plus visited Alaska twice, Nova Scotia and Mexico’s Copper Canyon. They loved visiting family and old friends across the country and making new friends along the way.
Jim is survived by his daughter, Kelley Campbell (Jeff Campbell), his son, Wade Johnson (Ronda Johnson), his two sisters, four granddaughters and two great grandsons.
The family is hosting an open house to celebrate his life on Saturday, September 26th and invites anyone whose lives were touched by Jim to join them to share memories.
Location: Taylor house at 4721 Basalt Ridge Circle, Castle Rock, CO 80108
