Letter to the editor: Do whatever it takes to maintain high standards at Sky-Hi News
Tabernash
More than 3,000 U.S. newspapers have closed in the last 25 years, creating “news deserts” in their communities. Fortunately, Grand County still has the Sky-Hi News to keep us informed.
Sadly, two of its journalists are leaving the newspaper and moving on. Editor Sean McAlindin and reporter Izzy Wagner have made the Sky-Hi more informative and vital to readers than its been since I moved here long ago. Their articles held the powers-that-be accountable for wide-ranging decisions, while still featuring regular folks struggling to get by.
As a former newspaper reporter and journalism professor, I encourage the new SkiHi publisher to do whatever it takes to maintain the newspaper’s high standards. With a wildfire season already here and midterm elections this fall, your readers deserve nothing less than solid coverage of the Grand County communities you serve. Thanks and good luck!
