Last year’s Secret Santa Shop in Grand Lake brought in 307 children to Grand Lake to pick out gifts for their household, topping aprevious high of 246, organizers stated.
“So counting kids, families and volunteers almost 1,000 Grand county neighbors were blessed by this event,” Deb Gahan said.
This year, Gahan, an organizer of the event, hopes even more community members will join the efforts on Dec. 12 and 13 at the Grand Lake Center where the shop opens at 10 a.m. and runs through the early afternoon.
Kids may leave their parents at the door to explore a room full of donated gifts brought in by local organizations and individuals. Each child picks out a gift for their family members or pets before wrapping the gifts with help from the elves.
Children can also visit with Santa, enjoy hot cocoa and cookies, and complete arts and crafts. Admission is free for the event, which started in 2011 under the volunteer group Grand Angels.
