Curious sight awaits the observant on Highway 34 near Granby

To the Editor:

Every week day I commute from Grand Lake to Kremmling for work. Every day on my commute home I can’t help but notice them on the west side of Highway 34 just past the trailer park almost directly across from the little putting green with the blue and white tug boat: There they sit, rain, shine, wind, sleet or snow. I pass them every afternoon in the 4 o’clock hour.

From the beginning of last fall when I first noticed them, I can’t help but make the daily observation that they’re still there, and I can’t help but wonder why. Why there? Why not find a warm barn? Or why not a different stretch of phone line? Why are they always there between the same two phone poles?

Are they alive or are they frozen to the lines awaiting the springtime sun to thaw them out? I have quit thinking ” one day, they will move on.

Next time you head up Highway 34, I’ll bet you’ll see them too.

It is curious the things we notice, isn’t it?
