Do you know your evacuation zone? Grand County Sheriff’s Office encourages public to prepare for emergencies

The Grand County Sheriff’s Office is asking community members to familiarize themselves with the county evacuation map as well as sign up for CodeRED cellular emergency notifications.
The evacuation map divides the county into areas that are labeled to allow for easy identification by public safety officials and the public during an emergency, the sheriff’s office stated in a news release. During an emergency, areas under no evacuation order will be displayed in green, areas under pre-evacuation will be displayed in yellow and areas being evacuated will be in red.
Residents can input their address into the search field to view which areas they live and work in.
In an emergency, public safety officials will reference specific areas of the map and send notifications through CodeRED, Grand County’s emergency notification system.
The sheriff’s office helped create the evacuation map in 2021 in collaboration with first responder partner agencies.
The evacuation map is at Co.Grand.Co.Us/evacmap. To sign up to receive CodeRED alerts, visit Co.Grand.Co.Us/193/sign-up-for-emergency-alerts.
