East Grand Fire hosts anniversary festivities featuring firetruck rides, 50-foot views
For 50 years the volunteers of the East Grand Fire Department have been fighting fires, saving lives and acting as an integral part of the community, so on Saturday, it was the community’s turn to give back to them.
East Grand Fire celebrated its 50th anniversary on Saturday by inviting the public to the fire station in Fraser for food, games, rides on firetrucks and an up close and personal look at the station and equipment.
Officially founded on April 18, 1969, East Grand has changed considerably in size and demand in its 50 years in the Fraser Valley. However, community support has remained strong throughout the department’s history.
Dozens of people gathered Saturday afternoon to get a shot at spraying the firehose or being lifted around 50 feet into the air in one of the firetruck’s bucket.
