The summer season at Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre is in full swing. A talented and energetic company performs each week on the Grand Lake stage. The theatre’s newest shows are “The Music Man” and “Come From Away.”

‘The Music Man’

Don’t miss this classic tale of a travelling salesman who accidentally falls for the town librarian and has to rethink both his lifestyle and future.

The production features newcomer Nik Vlachos as Harold Hill and Sally Scott as director.

Meredith Willson’s six time Tony Award-winning musical comedy has been entertaining audiences since 1957 and is a family-friendly story to be shared with every generation. Audience members will be humming the classic songs like “Seventy-Six Trombones” and “Gary, Indiana” after seeing this show.

‘Come From Away’

Based on a true story, “Come From Away” takes place in the isolated community of Gander, Newfoundland. What started as an average day in a small town turned into an international sleepover, when 38 planes carrying thousands of people from around the globe were diverted to Gander’s airstrip on Sept. 11, 2001.

Undaunted by cultural clashes and language barriers, the people of Gander cheered the stranded travelers with music, an open bar and the recognition that we’re all a part of a global family. After its opening on Broadway in 2017, reviewers have called the play a “celebration of the best of humankind.”

“Come From Away” tells a remarkable true story of a community coming together during the 9/11 attacks when planes are routed to their town.

In addition to these shows, Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre is rotating “Kinky Boots” and rounding out the season this fall with “I Left My Heart: A Salute to the Music of Tony Bennett.”
