Evergreen man pleads guilty in sister’s killing

GOLDEN, Colo. (AP) – A 19-year-old Colorado man has pleaded guilty to killing his sister and faces from 75 to 85 years in prison when he’s sentenced in January.

Zachariah Santaguida of Evergreen originally faced a first-degree murder charge in the death of 24-year-old Elizabeth “Libby” Santaguida. He pleaded guilty Wednesday to second-degree murder and second-degree kidnapping.

His sister was found strangled in the family’s home in April.

Authorities have said the brother and sister weren’t biologically related, but have declined to elaborate.
