The National Weather Service is predicting rain and thunderstorms to form over the mountains this afternoon and evening. Forecasts warn that heavy rainfall will be the biggest threat to people, especially in burn scar areas.
Areas affected by burn scar are vulnerable to flash flooding and debris flows during heavy rain. Strong winds can also knock over dead trees during storms.
Recreationists are encouraged to keep a close eye on weather conditions before making plans for any outdoor activities.
More scattered thunderstorms are expected Friday through Wednesday in Grand County.
