Fraser rec center seen as big benefit to second-home owners

To the Editor:

First of all, I am just learning about the controversies associated with the Fraser recreation center. My family and I, Colorado residents, own a second home in Fraser. We were considering moving our second home to another location.

One of the main reasons we decided not to change the area of our second home was the pending construction of the recreation center. We think the rec center will bring other families with children to the area.

I understand now that some people are concerned about the cost of that facility, but presumably the presence of the rec center will attract more families like ours to buy or keep second homes and spend money in the area/rec center, and thereby help support the facility and the town. Many second-home owners in the area we know, especially those with children, feel the same way.

I urge the Fraser Valley Metropolitan recreation District to continue construction of the rec center.
