Granby assistant town manager fired for ‘lying to supervisor’
Granby Assistant Town Manager Nicole Schafer was discharged from her position on Oct. 28, according to Town Manager Ted Cherry’s report to the Board of Trustees at the tail end of the meeting that night.
An unemployment notice from the Colorado Department of Labor stated that Schafer was dismissed due to lying to a supervisor.
Cherry stated in an email that he was “unable to discuss personnel matters,” but said he expects the town will begin a search for a new assistant manager before the end of the year.
Schafer was the first assistant town manager to serve the town of Granby and started in May of 2022. She also formerly sat on the Granby Board of Trustees. Her year-to-date earnings were $128,702, according to the unemployment document.
Schafer did not respond to multiple requests for comment.
