Grand County is embracing the spirit of Halloween with festivities that offer fun for families and community members of all ages. Whether you want to fill your holiday filled spooky thrills or fun memories, Grand County’s community offers unique local gatherings for everyone.

On Friday, Oct. 31, festivities span across the county, starting with a pumpkin painting and cider social hosted by Grand Lake’s Juniper Library. This event goes from 1 to 3 p.m. and provides a community space to craft and connect over refreshments.

Later, the town of Granby welcomes trick-or-treaters to take a stroll down East Agate Ave. from 4 to 6 p.m. for Trick or Treat Main Street featuring a free photo booth, Halloween music by KFFR 88.3 FM, a not-too-scary haunted house at Granby Library and a trunk or treat event at Polhamus Park.

Meanwhile, the Moffat Road Railroad Museum in Granby will transform its 1905 passenger coach into a haunted train experience from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.

For those seeking a different experience, Fisher’s Bar in Fraser will feature a mocktail booth from 4 to 8 p.m. They will be offering free mocktails provided by Tame Grand County with a recommended $5 donation for anyone partaking.

KFFR 88.3 FM is hosting an open mic variety from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at their studio in Fraser. Costumes are encouraged and non-alcoholic drinks will be provided. There is no cover, but donations are appreciated. Sign up for a slot at KFFR.org.

The spooky thrills continue through the weekend. From Oct. 31 to Nov. 2, the Gateway Inn and Wild Bear Tavern in Grand Lake will put on a secrets of Spirit Lake murder mystery dinner. Each western-themed evening of horrors will feature a fresh twist. Tickets are offered from $79 to $99 and include dinner and drinks.

On Nov. 1, families can head to Pioneer Village Museum in Hot Sulphur Springs for candy and crafts from 1 to 3 p.m., followed by a trunk or treat event at the Grand County Courthouse parking lot from 4 to 5 p.m., hosted by the sheriff’s office.

Finally, the Juniper Library wraps up the weekend with a Day of the Dead celebration on Nov. 1-2, honoring loved ones through art, storytelling and a screening of Pixar’s Mexico-based musical, “Coco.”
