Asher Michel, a Winter Park Competition Center skier, won bronze at the prestigious FIS Freestyle Junior World Ski Championships, which took place in Valmalenco, Italy. The 18-year-old freestyle skier traveled to Chiesa Resort in Italy in early April to compete against top athletes from around the world.
On April 5, Michel earned third place in moguls. He joined the podium with Mateo Jeannesson of Great Britain, who won gold, and Daeyoon Jung of South Korea, who won silver. Then on April 6, Michel returned to the course for dual moguls. He snagged fourth place in the event.

This was Michel’s second time participating in the junior world championships. In 2023, he won the gold in the team dual moguls race with teammate Alli Macuga, and also third place in moguls.
Michel has seen many achievements throughout this past season, including earning the gold in dual moguls in the NorAm Cup at Vermont’s Stratton Mountain Resort on March 2.
Olivia Maurais, another Winter Park Competition Center skier, joined Michel at the world championships. She earned 14th place in moguls then rose to seventh place for dual moguls.
