Grand Lake has a new town manager, though he won’t be around for long.

On July 1, long time Colorado municipal administrator and local government attorney Greg Clifton was selected by the Grand Lake Town Board to serve as Grand Lake’s interim town manager. Clifton, who hails from the Midwest, will serve as interim town manager for Grand Lake through the end of this summer, when he will be moving to Flagstaff, Arizona, to take another full-time position.

Originally from Illinois, Clifton grew up spending time at his family’s summer cabin along the Blue River in Summit County. He fondly remembers days from his youth hunting in the Williams Fork area. Clifton made his permanent move to Colorado in 1975 and thereafter took on a career in municipal administration.

“My background is in municipal law and administration” Clifton said.

Over the years Clifton has worked for Montrose, Ridgeway, Telluride and most recently Vail. He has worked as both a town manager and municipal attorney for multiple local governments throughout the state.
