An edition of Sky-Hi News from Oct. 24, 1947, and an edition of Middle Park Times from Dec. 29, 1927, are pictured in the Sky-Hi News office in Granby. The paper archives are at risk of being lost to time after decades of wear and tear from overuse, floods and even a bulldozer attack.

As part of a community effort to digitize Grand County’s historic newspapers, nearly 1,300 new editions have been added to the publicly available archive:

The editions from the 1930s to 1950s — the oldest in the Sky-Hi News collection — were digitizing using a $5,000 grant from Friends of Grand County Library. The editions from the ’80s and ’90s were digitizing by the Grand County Library District.

The ongoing digitization project is being supported by a variety of funders, including individual donations from readers. Learn more about the archive project and make a donation at SkyHiNews.com/donate.
