On Jan. 13, organizers at Grand County Pet Pals partnered with activist Kris Rotonda to raise over $35,000 for shelter pets in Grand County.

Jordan’s Way, a national animal advocacy movement, put on a livestream at the Granby-area animal shelter to raise funds for dogs and cats in need of a home. Rotonda, the founder of the organization, is currently on a national tour, visiting shelters across America and raising money toward the cause. Since 2019, the movement has raised millions of dollars directly for local shelters nationwide.

The live fundraiser featured real-time donations, community interaction and emotional storytelling centered on the animals in the care of Grand County Pet Pals. Also during the event, Grand County Sheriff Brett Schroetlin volunteered to “get slimed for a good cause,” he said.

“This is about showing shelters they’re not alone,” Rotonda said. “Every stop we make is about bringing the power of the internet into the shelter and giving these animals the spotlight they deserve.”

All funds raised during the livestream directly funded the animal shelter.
