According to the Fire Department of New York Incident Management Team, the Lee fire has reached 90% containment as of Tuesday morning. The new team assumed formal command of the fire on Monday.

The FDNY Incident Management Team assumed command of the Lee Fire around 6 a.m. Monday, relieving the Northern Rockies Complex Incident Management Team 1 crew members who had worked the fire for the previous two weeks.

With 208 total personnel, the team has continued repair work in areas that have been affected by the firefighters’ suppression activities. The focus of these efforts is to reduce the impact of operations to protect the surrounding natural resources.

On Monday an infrared flight provided the team with a clear picture of the current fire perimeter and activity. With this, the acreage was updated to 138,844. Repair and debris removal remains a priority.

Rainfall probabilities are near 100% in the new few days, with widespread cloud cover and showers. If the cloud cover dissipates by midday, the likelihood of strong thunderstorms greatly increases along with the potential for flash flooding.

If the cloud cover remains throughout the afternoons, conditions are expected to be lighter with minimal lightning.
