GRANBY — Country Ace Hardware is doing the #AceLemonChallenge (think of the ice bucket challenge, but with biting a lemon instead of cold water over the head) with the goal of raising $1,000 to help sustain the Mountain Family Center’s Totes Program.

The store is more than 50 percent of the way to its goal — they raised $546 at a ladies night in the store last month — and they’re hoping readers can get them the rest of the way to their goal.

All participants need to do is post a video of themselves taking a bite out of lemon on Facebook (their own page or the Country Ace page: https://www.facebook.com/granbyace?fref=photo) tagged with #AceLemonChallenge, and Country Ace will donate $1 for every video posted up to $500. Or, if people don’t want to bite the lemon they can just donate.

The fundraiser continues through Dec. 24.

Totes Program

The Mountain Family Center’s “Food Totes Program” (http://mountainfamilycenter.org/programs/totes/) provides a tote bag filled with nonperishable food items to children in grades K-5 in the Kremmling, Granby and Fraser Elementary Schools who have food insecurities at home. The program provides weekend food to approximately 300 children during the school year.
