Letter to the editor: Gender parity for US Constitution?

Article II, Section 1, of the United States Constitution so states: “The Executive power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America. He shall hold his Office during the Term of four years, and, together with the Vice President, chosen for the same Term, be elected, as follows … ”

In 2026, we will celebrate the celebration of the 250th year anniversary of the signing of our Declaration of Independence. I believe Congress needs to add a 28th Amendment to our Constitution. ‘He/she” and “his/her’ should replace “he” and “his.”

Will it happen? Probably not. But it should.
