Water and wildlife museum Headwaters River Journey in Winter Park will debut a new photography exhibit, “Living River: The Promise of the Mighty Colorado,” on Friday, Oct. 17.
The show features the work of conservation photographer and author Dave Showalter, whose images capture the beauty and urgency of protecting the Colorado River Basin.
The opening event runs from 4:30 to 7 p.m., with a cocktail hour and museum access from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., followed by a presentation and Q&A with Showalter. The evening concludes with a book signing. Admission is free, with light appetizers and wine provided.
The 20-piece exhibit, based on Showalter’s book published by Braided River, will remain on display through December 2025.
Showalter is a Senior Fellow of the International League of Conservation Photographers who has spent decades documenting the landscapes and wildlife of the American West. He has authored multiple books such as “Sage Spirit: The American West at a Crossroads” and “Prairie Thunder: The Nature of Colorado’s Great Plains,” in addition to “Living River.”
More information about “Living River” is available at the book’s website.
