KREMMLING, Colo. – The Bureau of Land Management is seeking public comment on its proposal to construct a new boat launch at the popular Radium Recreation Site on the upper Colorado River.

This new boat launch would be in addition to the single existing boat launch currently at Radium.-

“A single ramp is simply no longer sufficient to accommodate river traffic using this area during the busy summer season,” said Susan Cassel, acting field manager for the BLM Kremmling Field Office.-“A second boat launch would help alleviate congestion and improve safety.”

About 60,000 people float the stretch of the upper Colorado River between Pumphouse and Radium each year.-

If approved, construction is anticipated to begin in June 2013.

Before the BLM writes an environmental assessment of the proposal, it wants to hear any issues, concerns or comments from the public about the proposal. A copy of the proposal, including a map, is available at http://www.blm.gov/CO/KFO. The BLM will accept public comments through April 19, 2013. – –

Comments should be addressed to Hannah Schechter, Kremmling Field Office, P.O. Box 68, Kremmling, CO 80459 or hschechter@blm.gov.
