Obituary: Ann Michelle Mahony

Ann-Michelle Mahony, 81, formerly of Grand Lake and Longmont, Colorado, passed away from cancer on July 7, 2025, in Surprise, Arizona. She was born in Chicago, Illinois to Edwin Zimmerman and Helen (O’Donnell) Zimmerman. She attended Madonna High School in Aurora, Illinois, graduating in 1961. After relocating to Longmont Colorado with her family in 1972 she was employed with the St. Vrain Valley School District and then with IBM in Boulder, CO. for the remainder of her career. She and her husband Brian built their dream mountain “cabin” and moved to Grand Lake, Colorado in 1991 where they resided for 25 years. In 2016 the Mahonys relocated to Surprise, Arizona making a home and many friendships in the Sunflower Resort community. Ann was very active in the retirement community’s various activities and was especially drawn to their theater productions.
Ann-Michelle is survived by her son, Ric (Erin) Dittman of Aurora, CO., her daughters, Beth (Jorge) Norman of Riverview, FL., and Meg (Jeff) Hargett of Berthoud, CO., her stepsons Christopher Mahony and Paul (Laurie) Mahony, both of Longmont, CO., and her stepdaughter, Dana (Les) Tarlip of Fort Collins, CO. She is additionally survived by 14 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, her brother William Zimmerman, of Plainfield, IL. and her sister Kathleen (Jerry) Butler, of Fountain Hills, AZ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Brian Mahony, her parents, and her brother Ricky.
