Obituary: Michael Frank Sciuto Jr.
Michael Frank Sciuto Jr. was born March 11, 1967 in Huntington, N.Y. to Michael Frank Sciuto Sr. and Carol Jean Baker Sciuto. He attended high school in Dix Hills, N.Y. Michael met his wife, Edie, in San Diego. They moved to Granby in July 2000. They were married in Las Vegas on Dec. 10, 2001. Michael loved going to Las Vegas and Black Hawk and enjoyed the Mardi Gras Casino the most. He also enjoyed taking a road trip over Trail Ridge Road and staying at the Stanley Hotel, always hoping to spot a real ghost while lodging there.
Michael was employed at 7-Eleven in Granby. He was known for being a hard worker and loved talking to the people who came into the store. He was known for telling people he loved to cook, when actually he loved telling Edie how to cook. His favorite food was Italian and he wanted red sauce on something at least three times a week. He especially enjoyed Thanksgiving and insisted on having the biggest turkey and all the trimmings prepared, even if it was just he and Edie to enjoy it.
This April, Michael and Edie took a trip to San Diego, to visit a new grandbaby. Michael was afraid of flying, but only went on the plane for Edie. While in San Diego, they ate with family members at his favorite restaurant, Filippe’s Pizza Grotto. Michael and Edie also went to the San Diego Zoo, as zoos were a favorite destination for Michael.
Sports was a favorite hobby for Michael, especially baseball and football. He was an avid Rockies fan, recently seeing a Rockies vs. Padres game. Michael would tell you he was the funniest guy alive.
He passed away unexpectedly at home on June 26, 2008. Michael will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife Edie of Granby; his parents Michael and Carol Sciuto of Ramona, Calif.; his Grandma Sciuto of Bethpage, N.Y.; his sisters Susan Schwartz and husband Barry of Ramona, Calif., Janet Ocampo and husband Bob of Escondido, Calif., and Karen Wilson and husband John of San Diego, Calif.; his nieces and nephews Darren, Dustin, Deidre, Jordon, and Jett; his step-sons Steve Walls and Tom Peterson and their families all of Poway, Calif.
He is preceded in death by his Grandma Baker.
