Plein Air@Altitude is returning for its fifth year, bringing more than 30 professional artists from across Colorado, the Mountain West and beyond. Artists will capture the landscapes of Grand County “en plein air” (which is French for “in open air”) at public paint-outs starting the week before Labor Day, ending with a reception and silent auction to sell their work on Saturday, Aug. 30 at Rendezvous Event Center.

For the first time, artists will be able to select one painting from their studio work to sell, in addition to their top four paintings from the plein air event. The first opportunity to purchase paintings is Aug. 30 at 5 p.m. at the ticketed silent art auction and reception.

This year’s judge is award-winning plein air painter Lorenzo Chavez of Parker, who will select the 2025 award winners at the Saturday event. Proceeds from the festival benefit participating artists and Fraser Valley Arts, a nonprofit working to build the Fraser Center for the Creative Arts.

Paintings not sold on Saturday will be for sale at a free public show at Rendezvous Even Center on Sunday, Aug. 31. from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event also features an opportunity for the public to try their hand at plein air painting.
